KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Carter enters 2014 coming off one of its best seasons in school history.
The Green Hornets ended 2013 with a 9-2 record. Both losses came in the team's final two games. Both losses, however, were to eventual state champions Fulton.
Carter is now under the direction of Jeff McMillan. He replaced the departed Heath Woods earlier in the year.
While the Hornets did lose quality players from last year's squad, McMillan doesn't enter a situation where the cupboard is completely bare.
The Hornets will have six returning starters on offense, four on defense.
McMillan expects the play of his lineman (offensively and defensively) to be a strength this year.
"We don't have the biggest line that you'll ever see," McMillan said.
"(Weight-wise) Probably 240, 250 for most of them, but they can move. They run the football well and they're aggressive. So we're not real big, but they are aggressive and the run real well."
Carter opens up the Tennessee high school football schedule August 21st. The Hornets are set to host Gibbs on Rivalry Thursday. The game will be televised at 7 pm on MyVLT.
