NEW TAZEWELL, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Longtime Claiborne County High School head coach Barry Liles is hoping an experienced group of Bulldogs can get the school back into the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
The Bulldogs went 4-5 last season. They return 13 starters from that squad (7 on offense, 6 on defense.)
2013 was a year in which Claiborne Co. was one point away from having a winning record. The Bulldogs feel they've learned lessons the hard way.
"They understand now what we need to do to win," Liles said.
"And they understand how close we came to making the playoffs. The things that got us beat last year, hopefully we can correct, and come back this year and win those games that were close games last year that we didn't win."
The Bulldogs open up the season August 22 against North Laurel (KY).
