KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - After struggling through a 2-8 season there is hope for this year's Seymour Eagles squad. Seymour has a new head coach who brings a strong resume and a new offense.
Jerry Cooper was very successful coaching in Ohio, even claiming a State Title. He now has the task of turning around the Eagles. Cooper has installed the Wing-T offensive system. And he wants people to know that the Eagles can let it fly as well as run the ball.
"I think they have the idea that because we're Wing-T that we're predominantly a run team. And we're more finesse. It's probably as much balance between run and pass and they have the misconception that it's Wing-T so it's all run between the tackles. And nothing could be further from the truth," says Cooper.
Seymour opens the season at home on their new turf in Week Zero against Sullivan North.
