(UNDATED) Former Lady Vol Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever was named the WNBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, July 15, through Sunday, July 21.
This marks the first time this season and the 19th time in her career that Catchings has been named Player of the Week, tying her for first all-time with Seattle’s Lauren Jackson. For the week, she ranked second in the East in points and assists per game and fourth in rebounding.
In the July 19 win over Washington, Catchings scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals. On July 21, she erupted for 23 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks for her 84th career double-double.
