KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- When Chuck Smith left Tennessee's football program, rumors swirled about the reasons behind the former Vol's departure.
In an attempt to set the record straight, Smith met with the media outside Neyland Stadium Friday.
He talked for nearly 25 minutes, spending most of that time thanking UT's coaches and apologizing to some recruits for not being on the staff as long as he told them he would be.
When it came to the reason for his departure Smith hinted at dissention and disagreements on the defensive staff, but said in spite of all that he remains a "Vol for Life".
Raw video of Smith's comments are attached.
