Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Lamar Brown returns for his 6th year as Morristown West head coach.
The Trojans made it to the second round of the playoffs last season finishing with an 8-4 record. MoWest will be young in 2013, but don't equate that youth for lack of talent..
Team speed will be key for a West team that'll be strong at certain skill positions including at starting quarterback with Will Gardner who told Local8 Sports, "...I think we have started to come together as a team, when we first started playing we were a little bit apart and now you know we just got out of team camp and I think definitely as a team we are more together."
Coach Brown adds, "... we're no where near ready yet. The good thing is that we have about 19 days to keep working and this team has done that everyday they have come to work and gotten better."
Morristown West opens the season on Saturday August 24th against Whitley County Kentucky at Burke Toney stadium in Morristown.
