Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Morristown East Hurricanes are changing up their offense to try and improve on a 1-9 season. After running the veer for many years, Morristown East will now be working out of a spread offense.
The change comes to better suit the skills of the players on the roster.
The goal for the Canes is finding a true balance of passing and running says quarterback Logan Wallace, "...coach Hatcher and I sat down. He wanted to mold the offense around our strengths. And myself, I'm a passing quarterback. And the other guy, Matt Thompson, he's more of a runner. So why not use our strengths? So I'm going to throw the ball and when Matt has it he's going to run it." Coach Dwayne Hatcher added,"We're going to try to be balanced. In a perfect game we would have 200 yards passing and 200 yards rushing is what we're shooting for. That's the goal."
The Hurricanes open the season at home against West Greene.
