Countdown to Kickoff: Oak Ridge

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It's out with the new and in with the old at Oak Ridge High School.

Joe Gaddis is once again the head coach of the Wildcats.

Gaddis coached at Oak Ridge from 1988-1998. He led the team to its last state title in 1991.

He inherits a team that returns just six starters from a squad that reached the second round of the playoffs a season ago.

"We return only three starters are each side of the ball," Gaddis said.

"We have guys that haven't played much that will be counted on in big, big roles. We have to get experience quickly and these guys have to grow up quick."

Attitude has been a staple since Gaddis arrived in Oak Ridge.

"There's a confidence about the team. It's a whole new type of practice," linebacker Harry Boston said. "Everybody moves a little bit quicker. Everybody has a little bit more hop, a little bit more confidence in the season, even though we have less experience."

Oak Ridge opens up the year August 30 at Farragut.
