The Webb Spartans are coming off their third State Title in four years. A fourth in five years is very possible. The Spartans return 6 starters on offense including most of their skill position players. But it is the defense that will put Webb above the rest.
Tennessee commit and Webb safety Todd Kelly, Jr. believes the defense is ready to shut down the opposition. "You know the DBs we call it the "no fly zone". We try to not let anything go back there. So with all eleven of us working together we have big things ahead."
The Spartans also have a good linebacking crew led by Brandt Mitchell. Head coach Dave Meske is proud of the linebackers and his entire defense, "We also have Brandt Mitchell who has also been offered by The University of Tennessee at linebacker. We have nine starters back on defense so hopefully we will be pretty sound there."
The Spartans open the season on the road at Maryville. It's a game that will certainly have a lot of people interested.
