KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - So close but so far seems to be the way to describe the last 2 seasons for the West Rebels. Both 2010 and 2011 saw West go 11-3 with losses in the state semifinals. For this years Seniors, they are determined to play at least one more game.

"First of all, we have great Senior leadership in this group. We really do. Our Seniors, you know they've been there twice now to the semifinals. And they know what it's like there's no surprises. We want to get back and I think the Seniors... I think they will think it's a disappointment unless we get to State this year to be honest with you," says coach Scott Cummings.

The Fighting Irish begin their quest for a state title game appearance on the road at Austin-East on August 17th.
