Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley and Vols football legend Stanley Morgan combined for a second-place finish at the 2011 Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament Wednesday outside Atlanta.
The UT duo competed against a field of 11 other university teams of head coaches and celebrity alumni from the SEC and ACC for a combined scholarship purse of $415,000. Dooley and Morgan’s second-place result, on the strength of their 8-under-par score of 64, netted $60,000 in scholarship funds for Tennessee.
Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson and former Ramblin’ Wreck basketball star Jon Barry combined to shoot an 11-under-par 61 to win this year’s event at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga.
“We had a spectacular day on the golf course today and this incredible group of coaches and celebrities represented their universities in a first-class way,” said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Bowl president and CEO. “But the privilege was all ours in being able to give so much back to these great schools and great competitors.”
