Fast Pitch Softball World Series comes to town

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The best of the best softball teams from around the country compete in Knoxville for the number one spot all week long.

The teams are from different states and all teams are under 20 years old. There's 85 teams with a total of 3,000 people in Knoxville. They are spending big bucks by going to restaurants, staying in hotels and visiting our many attractions.

Freddie Mullins, creator of the S.E.A.A Fast Pitch Softball Tournament said "We saw a need for a tournament like this in the area and for the past 12 years we've been providing a place for these teams to play. In total this tournament brings in at least 1.5 million dollars to the area."

It's a big boost for East Tennessee and an even bigger boost for the teams that come and play.

Carlie Comeaux, a player on the Maniax from Louisiana said "This is what we do. We travel around playing softball and compete with teams we've never played against before. It makes us better and stronger so we can go to the next level in softball."

You can go out and cheer on some of the teams. There are a few playing from the Knoxville area. For more information about those teams and the tournament; visit the website link below.
