KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (release) -- The Knoxville Force, Knoxville’s semi-pro soccer team, opened its third season in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Saturday night in Regal Soccer Stadium on the University of Tennessee campus.
The Mississippi Storm traveled from Ocean Springs, Mississippi for the Force’s opening game of the 2013 season with two league victories already under their belts.
The Force and Storm played head to head soccer throughout the first half with each having four shots on goal. Halftime score: Force-0, Storm-0.
At 61 minutes, Tyler Szura scored for the Storm off of a 30 yard line rocket kick. At 68:30, Julio Espinosa scored a second goal for the Storm. Final score: Mississippi Storm-2, Knoxville Force-0.
On June 1, both the Force and the Lady Force will be playing back to back games in Regal Soccer Stadium with the Lady Force playing Alabama FC beginning at 5:30 and the Force playing Chattanooga FC beginning at 7:30.
