Former Fulton star Terrance Cobb eyes NFL draft

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Former Fulton High star Terrance Cobb has put in the work and taken the steps. He's now hoping to make the leap into childhood dreams.

"As a kid, you don't know what the NFL draft is, you just want to go to the NFL," Cobb said Tuesday afternoon at Fulton.

"Then you get to the opportunity to be in his draft process, it's an overwhelming feeling for me. I hope and prey all my hard work pays off for me."

This University of the Cumberlands All-American will get that answer in the next week and a half when NFL draft comes and goes.

Cobb has visited with a handful of teams. The first stop was in Buffalo with the Bills. It was an eye-opening experience

"Getting off the plane, I didn't know what to expect," Cobb recalled. "It is overwhelming when you get to the stadium and you're looking at it and thinking 'as a kid I would kill just to be in one of these places,' and now you're here. It is a surreal feeling, a humbling feeling."

Cobb also met with the 49ers, Bengals, and a fourth undisclosed team.

A potential late round draft pick, some draft analysts consider Cobb a possible diamond in the rough. Others, aren't as high. Cobb takes note of them all.

"I like to know what people think about me, the good and the bad. I want to know who to prove wrong and who to prove right. I like it when people stick their neck out for me and I definitely don't want to disappoint them. If people talk down about me, I also want to prove them wrong. I think you have to have motivation going into everything you do."

During his time at the University of the Cumberlands, the 5'10", 220 pound Cobb re-wrote the school's rushing record book.

He rushed for 1,991 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior. His senior season he was slowed by a foot injury, missing all by six games. Cobb still averaged 5.8 yards per carry.

Last season, Cobb was sidelined for all but six games. He still averaged 5.8 yards per carry, 105 all-purpose yards per game and scored six touchdowns.
