PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Lee Hammonds has resigned as Pigeon Forge's head football coach.
Next season he'll coach at Gatlinburg-Pittman as an assistant. G-P is coached by longtime Highlander, and Hammonds' dad, Benny.
"The opportunity to be able to go back home and coach with my father is something I couldn't pass up," Hammonds told Local 8 Sports Monday afternoon.
"I'm excited about what the future holds."
Hammonds coached at Pigeon Forge for six seasons, compiling a 25-36. The school first started playing football in 2001. Hammonds coached the Tigers to their first winning record (7-4) in 2011.
