Knoxville, TENN. (WVLT-TV), Certainly one of the busiest people on the University of Tennessee Campus is new Athletics Director Dave Hart. The longtime Florida State AD and Alabama associate Athletics Dire cor is the man charged with moving the business that is
Tennessee sports forward. His tenure begins in the wake of NCAA
violations and in the middle of rebuilding efforts by three of the University's biggest sports, football, men's basketball and baseball. All three sporting new head coaches.
Last Saturday's win put a bit of a charge in a UT fan base that's been fighting disappointment. Hart told me, "I'd hate to be at a University where nobody cared, I've never been bothered by the passion of disappointment, but it was great Saturday night to see the passion of excitement and exuberance that our fans displayed in the stadium and as they were headed to the parking lots, that's Tennessee football and that's what we need."
Hart discussed everything from Cuonzo Martin and Pat Summitt, to conference expansion and his vision for the future which he says, " I'm not really concerned where we've been, I know where we've been and we have a very rich history and tradition which I love, I also know we've had three or four very tough years, but rather than peaking in those rear view mirrors I wanted to get a direction and move aggressively and with positive energy toward where we're going." "We have a lot of challenges, but to me that means we have a lot of opportunities."
