High expectations at CAK

Knoxville, Tenn.(WVLT-TV), CAK junior quarterback Charlie High is a reigning Mr. football after compiling the most profilic passing season in tennessee high school football history...

Charlie High: "it's been like a dream. it hasn't sunk in yet. after friday night's game it will probably sink in."

but charlie is not the most decorated athletic member of his family.

his dad, bill was a four time track all-american at the university of tennessee in hurdles, winning 5 sec titles ... much like charlie, bill high doesn't like to brag about his accomplishments...

Charlie: "he doesn't like to talk about it. he's a very humble guy."

Bill, who is now an oral surgeon, says that charlie's athletic ability comes from both parents...

Bill High: "Ithink he got a little speed from me. i think he got his toughness from his mom."

despite knowing what it takes to be a successful athlete, bill high has let his son be himself...

Charlie: "he hasn't put any pressure on me or my brothers so he's been great during the whole football time."
bill high: "the only advice that i have ever given charlie is have fun and take it one play at a time. that's the only advice i have given him."

Jeff Archer: "Charlie is a humble young man, but there is one group of people that he will brag to if he wins a state title, that being his family."

Charlie : "i'm probably going to rub it in with my older brother who also played at cak. so that will be a little 'i got the ring, you didn't.' but that will be in fun."

Bill says he hopes charlie gets the opportunity to brag... and continues the family tradition of athletic success... although, good luck getting them to talk about it...

Charlie and the Warriors face Milan for the Class 3-A title Friday afternoon at 4:30 ET at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville.
