(UNDATED) -- Butch Jones has traveled into Alabama and nabbed one of its top linebackers.
Gavin Bryant, from Jackson, Alabama, has committed to play at Tennessee.
ESPN and 247sports both rate Bryant as a four-star prospect. Rivals lists him as a three-star recruit.
Bryant, 6'2", 225 lbs., has offers from Alabama and Auburn. He told al.com that he had prefered to stay in-state, but couldn't pass up Tennessee's offer.
"I really didn't want to leave the state, but I felt like that was my best option. I liked everything about Tennessee," Bryant told the Alabama media outlet. "I really like Tennessee and I didn't want their slots to fill up and then I didn't have a place there. I just didn't see any point of wasting any more time."
"They talked to me about getting early playing time, and that is important to me. I want to get on the field and make a contribution."
Bryant gives Tennessee 16 commitments toward the class of 2014. Currently, Bryant and Chris Weatherd are the only linebackers in the class.
