“Sato was one of our top rookies last season and I'll be looking for him to build on that during his 2nd season as an Ice Bear," said Head Coach Mike Craigen. "After speaking with Eric over the summer we both agree that he's ready for more responsibility in terms of prime minutes and offensive contribution."

Marc is going to be an exciting player to watch at the Civic Coliseum come November," said Craigen. "He plays the game at a high speed and is very skilled, which has enabled him to put up some impressive numbers throughout his junior career."

Atnip has been named as the Media Relations Director of the Knoxville Ice Bears. He has been a member of the Ice Bears organization since the 2004-2005 season serving as the PA announcer for home games and providing the play-by-play for all road games. In addition to his current duties, he will be responsible for providing all news outlets with valuable information about the team.

“Mark’s insight on the team and the players is uncanny. His perspective of personally knowing each player has been extremely valuable to the organization. We see this move as an opportunity for him to share his knowledge of our guys with our great news partners in providing them with valuable content for their broadcasts,” said President and General Manager Mike Murray.

The Knoxville Ice Bears will be hosting a Charity Golf Classic to kick off the season. The event will run from 11:30 am to 5 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Contact the Ice Bears office for information.
