Junior Ice Bears win U18 national championship

WAYNE, NJ (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Junior Ice Bears have claimed the Under-18 Tier II (Class A) National Championship.

The squad posted a 4-1 record during competition, beating the Idaho Steelheads 5-1 in the title game.

It's the first national championship in Knoxville youth hockey history.

The team is comprised of 19 players from twelve area schools. The Junior Ice Bears finish the season with a staggering 45-5-3 record.
