KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Hundreds of kids laced up their skates for Hockey Night in Knoxville on Saturday.
It was the normal slate of games at the Icearium in Farragut for the Knoxville Amateur Hockey Association.
But they were shifted to night to give the teams a "pro feel."
There were door prizes, goodie bags, and some even got Ice Bears tickets.
KJ Voorhees / hockey director says,
"We gave each family 20 tickets to give away to this and they invited friends and family. So a lot of kids saw hockey tonight for the first time, kids from school they've never seen it before. So it's a great marketing opportunity for us"
The hockey director says the league has doubled to 350 kids in just the past five years.
