Local drag racer succeeds on the fast track

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Drag racing has been a part of Dylan Kiser's life since he can remember, "My papaw raced and i went and watched him when I was four or five."

Ever since that moment Kiser has been dreaming of speeding down that 1/8th mile track, he began competing when he was nine and never looked back. "When i first started i was racing against 16 and 17 year olds here at Knoxville and i would get beat pretty bad and i would just try and improve and get better."

That determination fueled Kiser's future years in the sport as he worked with a with a passion that outpaced the competition.

His grandfather, Chester Lay, has been Dylan's crew chief form his brief but very successful career. "I've got friends that have raced for 20 years and never won, to win 77 races and be in one hundred finals is staggering."

Kiser estimates he'll run that 1/8th mile about 300 times this year and he wouldn't have it any other way.
