KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Grace Christian quarterback Devin Smith and West High linebacker Cody Underwood announced Saturday on Twitter that they will suit up for Tennessee, both accepting offers as preferred walk-ons.
Smith was a three year starter at Grace, posting a 32-3 record.
Underwood also started the last three years, leading the Rebels in tackles each season.
Underwood was the anchor of a defense that helped West to the school's first ever appearance in the title game. He was recently named the 2013 PrepXtra Defensive Player of the Year.
Smith turned down offers from East Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee State, and UT-Chattanooga. He said that it was Tennessee that was the most relentless in his recruitment.
"Coach (Mike) Bajakian (offensive coordinator) was the only coach that kept on calling me, kept on calling me on a consistent basis," Smith said.
"Coach Bajakian was the one that recruited me the hardest, actually. I really thought about going to UT around the first of January."
