KNOXVILLE (GoVolsXtra.com) -- Tennessee freshman Jordan McRae is ineligible to play because of his role in apparent NCAA recruiting violations, according to multiple sources close to the situation.
He has continued to practice with the team, and according to the sources, he’s expected to regain his eligibility soon.
McRae was one of three high school juniors who went to coach Bruce Pearl’s home during an unofficial visit on Sept. 20, 2008, for a cookout.
Pearl said that at the time of the visit he told McRae and the other visitors — Josh Selby, who’s now at Kansas, and Aaron Craft, who’s at Ohio State – that their presence at his home was a violation and it was their choice to attend.
