Memphis athletic hall of fame opens Tuesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The Penny Hardaway/University of Memphis Athletic Hall of Fame will open Tuesday.

Named after the former Memphis basketball star, the hall of fame will include the photographs of more than 4,000 Tiger athletes for one of the three interactive databases.

Memorabilia was gathered from many of the more than 400 inductees in the M Club Hall of Fame, including the basketball jersey of the late Larry Finch.

Associate athletic director Bob Winn says Tiger fans will be surprised and pleased by some of the treasures that have been found.

Also collected was part of the goal post from a victory over Tennessee in 1996.
