NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Freshman guard Meighan Simmons scored 14 points and No. 9 Tennessee cruised past Old Dominion 74-44 on Sunday.
The Lady Vols (8-1) closed the last 12 minutes of the first half on a 30-14 run, fueled by a full-court press that forced a spate of first-half turnovers, and led 40-22 at the break.
The Lady Monarchs (3-3), who opened the season with a 65-63 win at Georgia Tech and beat Louisville 69-65 on Nov. 26, shot 32 percent and were outrebounded 41-33.
Old Dominion, which went almost 3 minutes without a basket during Tennessee's first-half run, opened the second half with more energy but not much more luck scoring. With 13:39 to play, the Lady Monarchs, who were 4 of 21 on 3-pointers, were shooting just 31.6 percent.
