KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Lady Vol senior Erica Popson captured league recognition Monday, as the Southeastern Conference announced its All-SEC honors for women's golf.
Popson, who led Tennessee in seven of its nine tournaments in 2012-13, was named to the First Team All-SEC.
"Erica has had a really good senior season and deserves this first-team All-SEC honor," head coach Judi Pavon said. "The conference is extremely strong and to be named to the first team is a huge accomplishment. She has had an incredible career at UT and is looking forward to finishing off on a high note in the next couple tournaments."
The Davenport, Fla., native becomes the 10th Lady Vol golfer to be recognized with three or more All-SEC accolades in her career. Popson was named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2010 and earned First Team All-SEC honors in 2011.
Popson ranks third among SEC golfers as she posted five top-10 finishes, including a share of the Seminole Match-Up title this season. She also finished all nine tournaments in the top 25 this year, pacing UT with a 73.11 stroke average.
Alabama swept the yearly awards as Mic Potter was named SEC Coach of the Year, Stephanie Meadow was honored with SEC Golfer of the Year and rookie Emma Talley earned SEC Freshman of the Year. Meadow was also recognized as the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Tennessee will head to Auburn, Ala., for the NCAA East Regional May 9-11.
