Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Among those caught up in "Snowmagedon" yesterday, UT head football coach Butch Jones. The top vol tweeted the attached picture while in Atlanta recruiting on Tuesday. I spoke with the coach on the phone Wednesday and he said, "it was chaos, pure 100% panic down there." The coach told me they got an early 6:30am start to their recruiting day in Atlanta, but once the storm hit, it seemed like it took just about 30 minutes before conditions deteriorated greatly.
Jones was stuck in traffic for hours. He finally got to a mall where he was able to make some phone calls. With help of UT boosters, he barely got on a plane, in fact telling me had just a few minutes once at the airport to board the plane bound for Nashville. The coach then left the Music City headed for Miami.
He spent several hours recruiting in South Florida Wednesday before returning to Nashville to spend some more time with UT commitments. What a whirlwind finish to this recruiting season for coach Jones who's happy to be safe and anxiously awaiting national signing day coming up on Wednesday, February 5th.
