Less than 24 hours after leading the University of Tennessee Men's basketball team to the brink of the Elite 8, Cuonzo Martin's name has appeared in a report as a target for the head coach opening at Marquette.
ESPN.com is reporting that coach Martin, along with former UCLA head coach Ben Howland are top targets of the Golden Eagles to replace the departed Buzz Williams who left for Virginia Tech.
The story indicates that Howland has a high interest in the position while it is unclear if Cuonzo Martin has any interest in the opening.
Coach Martin has led the Vols to the postseason in all 3 of his years at the University of Tennessee with two NIT appearances and most recently winning 3 games in the NCAA Tournament before falling 73-71 to Michigan in the Sweet 16.
Cuonzo Martin has 2 more years left on his current contract at $1.35 Million per season.
