MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Resmondo overcame a slow start to claim its fourth consecutive Smoky Mountain Softball Classic championship with a 27-12 win Sunday at Sandy Springs Park in Maryville.
The team from Florida beat GTL/Cartel twice in as many days to win the title.
Greg Connell won the tournament MVP award and eight Resmondo players made the all-tournament team.
"It never gets old winning this tournament," Connell said. "It just gets better every year. Everybody in the lineup knows what the next person's going to do, and we got the job done."
The Smoky Mountain Classic is one of the nation's premier slowpitch softball tournaments. The 2011 version was the 43rd time the Smoky took place.
