INDIANNAPOLIS, IN (release) -- The field of 32 has been announced, and Hampden-Sydney will Maryville College in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Football Championship on Saturday, November 23. Kickoff is set for 12:00 pm.
This is the first NCAA postseason appearance for the Scots in their program's history.
Hampden-Sydney enters the postseason having received a Pool A bid after winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship. The Tigers wrapped up the regular season at 8-2 overall and 6-1 in ODAC play. The team is currently riding a three-game winning streak and is fresh off a Championship-clinching 28-26 win in Ashland over arch-rival Randolph-Macon.
Maryville also received a Pool A bid after winning the USA South at 8-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Scots had won seven straight games before falling 45-38 to Huntingdon in the regular season finale.
Hampden-Sydney and Maryville are no strangers, having met 24 times with the Tigers holding a 17-7 advantage in the series.
