KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Vols needed big. The Vols got big.
7'1" center Kingsley Okoroh committed to Tennessee Monday afternoon via his Twitter account.
"Just committed to the university of Tennessee! Can't wait to play in the SEC next year," @Kingokoroh tweeted.
Okoroh will arrive this summer and play this fall for Tennessee. With Jarnell Stokes departing for the NBA and Jeronne Maymon out of eligibility, Okoroh's addition gives Cuonzo Martin much needed size.
Okoroh is from England. He played last year at Westwind Prep Academy in Phoenix, where he averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 blocks a game.
ESPN rates Okoroh a two-star prospect. He also had interest from Nebraska, Arizona State, UTEP and Wichita State.
Okoroh will be Tennessee's first seven-footer since Steve Hamer (1992-1996).
