HOOVER, Ala. (AP) -- Mark Stoops likes the excitement fans have shown since his arrival at Kentucky and says they're "starving" for success on the football field.
The first-year Wildcats coach says the current players and recruits alike "feel the positive energy" and the fans getting behind them.
Kentucky's Blue-White spring scrimmage drew a school-record 50,831 fans, beating the old mark by 30,000-plus.
Stoops says if the Wildcats win and put a product on the field that "the whole state's proud of, they'll show up in droves."
Kentucky went 0-8 in the SEC under Joker Phillips last season and has four league wins in the last three years.
Stoops arrived after serving as defensive coordinator for Florida State during last year's Atlantic Coast Conference championship run.
