CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina is off to a bowl game for the third straight season, though the Tar Heels could argue they've accomplished more this time just by getting there.
The Tar Heels will face Tennessee in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 despite playing through the distraction of an ongoing NCAA investigation into the football program. North Carolina (7-5) has a chance to finish with the same record as the past two seasons despite having 14 players miss at least one game and seven sit out the season due to the probe.
Safety Deunta Williams said there's more of a "satisfying kind of feeling" after reaching a bowl game this time around.
Coach Butch Davis said he hasn't allowed himself to think about what the team could have accomplished had everyone been eligible all season.
