HOOVER, Ala. (AP) -- First-year Tennessee coach Butch Jones is placing a heavy emphasis on pride.
He spoke of prideful seniors hungry to help the Volunteers' tradition-rich program rebound and of prideful fans eager to halt losing streaks to rivals Florida and Alabama Wednesday at Southeastern Conference media days.
After three straight losing seasons, Jones says the seniors have "really stepped up and taken great ownership in our football program."
Jones faces a challenging schedule in starting his turnaround job, including road trips to Oregon, Florida and Alabama. The Volunteers have lost eight in a row to the Gators and six straight to the Crimson Tide.
Jones says that proud fan base reminds him of those streaks "all the time."
