KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Tickets for the fourth annual DIRECTV SEC/Big East Invitational, including Tennessee’s game against Pittsburgh at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., are available beginning Monday at 10 a.m. ET.
The two-night men’s college basketball tournament takes place in two cities, with a doubleheader Wednesday, Dec. 8, in Louisville followed by a doubleheader Saturday, Dec. 11 in Pittsburgh. The schedule at Consol Energy Center will feature Auburn taking on Rutgers at 12:30 p.m. ET, followed by Tennessee facing Pittsburgh at 3 p.m. ET.
Fans who wish to attend the Dec.11 doubleheader at Consol Energy Center can purchase tickets online at www.Ticketmaster.com or charge by phone by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or the Consol Energy Center box office at 412-642-1800. Prices are $50, 40, $25 and $15. Additional fees and tax will apply.
ESPN2 will televise Auburn vs. Rutgers, while ESPN will feature Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh. Also part of the event is a Dec. 8 doubleheader at Freedom Hall in Louisville, featuring Seton Hall vs. Arkansas at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2, followed by Notre Dame vs. Kentucky at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Teams invited to participate in the SEC/BIG EAST Invitational are chosen by ESPN in consultation with the conferences and are based on geographic and competitive criteria.
Five of the eight participating teams reached the postseason in 2009-10, with Tennessee and Kentucky advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight. Pittsburgh and Notre Dame also played in the NCAA Tournament, while Seton Hall played in the NIT.
