KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The world's most famous swimmer and the best swim team on earth have hit the waters on the University of Tennessee campus.
The United States swim team is using UT's Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center and the older Student Aquatic Center to train and prep for the upcoming London Olympics.
For two of the swimmers, training in Knoxville means a return to familiar territory. Davis Tarwater, who will swim on the 800 meter freestyle relay team, is a Knoxville native and Webb School graduate.
Claire Donahue is from Lenoir City. She'll compete in the women's 100-meter butterfly.
The team's first two practices were Sunday. However, our cameras were not allowed inside the facilities to catch the training sessions.
It's believed there will be a media opportunity with USA Swimming later in the week, possibly on Thursday.
With the likes of Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Dana Vollmer, and Missy Franklin, the United States is expected to rack up the medals in the upcoming Olympics.
