KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- Tennessee fullback Kevin Cooper has been suspended for the South Carolina game for a violation of academic team rules.

Head coach Derek Dooley announced the suspension after practice Wednesday. He did not elaborate on the specifics of the situation.

The senior fullback has started every game for Tennessee this season. True freshman Channing Fugate will start in his place when the Vols visit South Carolina Saturday.
