Knoxville, Tenn.- Butch Jones and the Tennessee football staff landed a very big recruit Thursday night. That commitment is Chance Hall, a 6'4" 290 pound lineman from Roanoke, Va.
Hall, who plays on both sides of the Ball at North Side High School in Roanoke, is projected to play on the offensive line when he arrives in Knoxville next summer.
Hall is a very highly rated prospect by the major recruiting services. ESPN's recruiting service gives Hall a four star rating and lists him as the 41st offensive tackle in the nation. Rivals.com and 247sports.com both give Hall a three star rating.
With a high rating come the big offers, and Hall had several. Hall chose the Vols over offers from other top programs like Duke, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Vanderbilt.
Most believed Hall would be committing to Virginia. His mother has degrees from both Virginia and Virginia Tech and his father is a University of Virginia fan. However, Hall's commitment to the Vols was not based on any family history or loyalty, but on his own comfort level.
Hall's decision actually came down to a choice between the Vols and the Commodores with Butch Jones and his staff winning the day. Notre Dame, Virginia and Virginia Tech rounded out Hall's top 5.
Hall is the 19th commitment for the 2015 freshman class.
