LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- The University of Kentucky will enter the season as the No. 1 team in the nation.
The Wildcats are the top ranked team in the USA TODAY Sports coaches' preseason poll.
It's the first time since the 1991-92 season, that a team was ranked No. 1 after finishing the previous season unranked.
Michigan State came in at No. 2. UK plays the Spartans November 12 at the United Center in Chicago.
Defending national champion Louisville is No. 3 in the preseason poll followed by Duke at No. 4 and Arizona at No. 5.
The coaches poll has Kansas at No. 6, Syracuse at No. 7, Florida, Michigan and Ohio State round out the top ten.
Oklahoma State coached by former UK Wildcat Travis Ford is at No. 12 in the coaches poll, Indiana is at No. 24.
