Farragut (WVLT-TV), He's moved on to the bright lights of the
PGA Tour, but Farragut native Garrett Willis hasn't forgotten how to
play his home course, in fact, he's playing quite well so far in this week's 22nd annual News Sentinel Open presented by Pilot.
Willis followed up his first round 64 with a 6-under 66 today and
trails tournament midpoint leader, John Mallinger by just two strokes.
Willis was able to hit his fairways and said afterwards; "..I've given myself alot of opportunities to make putts. If you keep the ball in the fairway you're gonna give yourself tons of opportunities there's alot of birdies to be had out there."
He's made enough to earn himself a two day total of 14 under par.
Again Thursday's co-leader, Mallinger followed up his 9-under score yesterday with a 7-under par performance on Friday.
Third round action continues Saturday at Fox Den Country Club.
