Woman accused of extortion involving Titans player

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Nashville have charged a young woman with extorting $5,000 from Tennessee Titans player Damian Williams.

Officers said in a news release that 22-year-old Shelley Anne David was taken into custody Monday afternoon in a parking lot after meeting with Williams and getting a $5,000 check from him.

Police said she demanded the money to agree not to appear in court to testify against Williams about a domestic assault complaint she had made.

Prosecutors said they dropped an assault warrant against Williams, a wide receiver.
