New U of M practice court is a knockout

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The newly refurbished floor at the University of Memphis practice court is a near-exact replica of the Tigers' FedEx Forum floor.

The logo doesn't have the city skyline or the bridge, but it's the largest center court design ever done by Sports Floors Inc. The Memphis-based company accomplished the stripping, staining, painting and refinishing of the floor at the Larry O. Finch Center in just 12 days. It's usually a three- to four-week job.

The massive center court design features the familiar leaping tiger "M" logo.

The Tigers begin individual workouts soon on their new Finch Center floor. The official start of practice is Oct. 3 and Memphis Madness is scheduled for Oct. 18.
