KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- American swimmers will begin their attempt to repeat their dominating performance at the 2008 Olympic games right here in Knoxville. On the 4th of July, no less, the USA Swimming team will start training for the 2012 Olympic Games at UT.
The nation's finest swimmers will train for ten days at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center before heading off to Olympic glory in London.
Led by Michael Phelps' record-setting eight gold medals, American swimmers won 31 medals in all, well ahead of second-place Austria's 22 total medals.
The Olympics are scheduled to begin on July 25th, with the swimmers diving in that Saturday.
