KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- South-Doyle quarterback Taylor Mason signed a letter-of-intent to play football at Bethel University late Wednesday morning.
This past year, Mason quarterbacked the Cherokees to their first postseason appearance since 2002.
Bethel University is located in McKenzie, Tennessee, in the northwest part of the state.
When Mason visited the school, he said it was as far west as he had been in the state, but added he's stoked about the transition from high school to college.
"(It's) definitely gonna flip everything upside down," Mason said after signing the papers.
"But you know, I'm excited about it. I'm ready for some change, ready to get a different atmosphere. Anything to get that opportunity to play again. I think it's definitely worth it. There's nothing more exciting than that, can't get over that."
The Wildcats went 8-3 in 2011. Bethel plays at the NAIA level.
