Fayetteville, GA – The United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear is coming to the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN for the inaugural USCS “Thunder in the Smokies” winged Outlaw sprint car race. It will be held at the 3/8 mile high-banked clay oval on Friday, May 4th @ 7:30pm. The event is race number six for the 16th Anniversary USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour 2012.
Some of North America’s top ranked winged sprint car drivers, including ten-time USCS and sixteen-time National Touring Series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee and the 2010 USCS Rookie of the Year, nineteen year-old female sprint car driver, Morgan Turpen from Oakland, Tennessee. Gray leads the 2012 National standings and Turpen is currently in fifth place in the 2012 National point standings.
Friday night’s family-oriented event also includes the cars and stars of two of the Smoky Mountain Speedway racing divisions with special events of their own. Those are the poplar Limited Late Model and Street Stock divisions. The racing action also includes a full racing program for the www.RockAuto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints. On Saturday night (May 5th) the The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour and USCS 600 Sprint Car Series once again join the Limited Late Model and Street Stock divisions for an identical action-packed racing program at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN for Round #2 of USCS “Thunder in the Smokies” presented by Ujunkdit.com.
