Knoxville, Tenn--(UT Sports) Senior Lindsay Gendron earned SEC Swimmer of the Week honors after leading the Tennessee swimming and diving women’s team to an upset of Florida in the regular-season finale, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Gendron put in a standout performance in her last home meet, winning three individual races and swimming in anchor leg final, deciding 400-yard freestyle relay.
Gendron started her day by winning the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 45.59 seconds and followed up that performance by winning the 500 freestyle in 4:44.63. She took first in the 100 butterfly in a career-best time of 53.60.
The UT squad needed a victory in the final event to take out Florida. Gendron teamed up with Faith Johnson, Kate McNeilis and Lauren Solernou to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:19.73 to end the meet and seal the team win.
Tennessee’s next meet will be the SEC Championships. The meet runs Feb. 18-22 in Athens, Ga.
