Knoxville (WVLT-TV), Believe it or not sports fans, the 2010 high school football season is underway. Hope you had a chance to catch our Rivalry Thursday kickoff featuring Grace Christian and the Christian Academy Warriors. Despite numerous penalties, the Warriors had their way throughout much of the evening. Quarterback Quinn Epperly had three interceptions, but he also threw two touchdown passes and ran the pigskin in for two scores. One of his TD tosses went to Davis Howell, who caught seven balls for 92 yards. Not bad offensive display for the first game of the season. Epperly, who normally wears the #2, wore #11 Thursday night in honor of teammate Jordan Ritchie, who recently battled and overcame cancer. Ritchie is unable to play this season, so Epperly honored his teammate and friend by wearing his Jersey number. Epperly and the Warriors win it 28-6, starting out the season 1-0. CAK will face Seymour next week.
Also Thursday night, it was Eddie Courtney's Farragut Admirals opening their season at Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett. Farragut got a touchdown from Junior quarterback Cody Rule, but that would turn out to be their only score of the game. Cody Sensabaugh rushed 19 times for 124 yards for the Indians, who go on to win the opener by a final of 28-7.
