MARYVILLE (WVLT) -- A rivalry known for so many classic finishes added another slugfest to the list Thursday.
The Alcoa Tornadoes outlasted Maryville on its home field, beating the Red Rebels 35-31 in a contest which featured 10 lead changes, two in the final five minutes of the game.
Vanderbilt Hambrick scored the gamewinner, a 34-yard run on fourth-and-seven, with less than two minutes left to propel Alcoa to victory. Hambrick finished with 198 rushing yards and was named the game's MVP.
The win gives Alcoa its first win streak versus Maryville since beating the Rebels in 1990 and 1991. The Tornadoes rolled over Maryville 41-24 last season.
The loss is Maryville's first home defeat in nearly a decade.
