HARRIMAN (WVLT) -- For two quarters, the Harriman Blue Devils looked like they were going to roll to an easy Rivalry Thursday victory.
Then the Cherokees of Greenback went on the warpath.
Dimitrique Inman scored with less than two minutes left to propel Harriman to a 20-18 victory over a Greenback team which stormed back in the second half to turn a washout into a barnburner.
The Blue Devils took a 14-0 lead to the halftime locker room thanks to an impressive performance by Inman, a junior running back who said after the game he'd never been more exhausted.
The reason he was so tired? Greenback made a game of it in the second half.
Justin Ridge's team capitalized on a tired Harriman defense and posted 18 second-half points, taking the lead on a 79-yard run in the fourth quarter.
But when the Cherokees were trying to run out the clock, the ball hit the turf, and Harriman recovered deep in Greenback territory.
Inman plunged into the end zone from two yards out to secure the win for Harriman (3-1, 2-0), who lost to the Cherokees (2-3, 0-2) last year.
